Now that the autocross season is officially upon is, it’s time to get the novices out on course to start teaching car control. Kate Hughes from the Glen Region SCCA has put together a Solo II novice handbook to help new autocrossers out with their first season. Although originally written in 1996 and last revised in 1998 virtually all of the information can be applied to any autocross series.
Although some larger autocross clubs harbor cliques and extreme competition within each class the smaller clubs are usually much more friendly and family oriented. All you need to do is ask. Anyone, anything. If they can’t help you, they’ll point you to someone who can.
